Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology LUT was established in 1969 in Finland. LUT University has a multi-disciplinary regional campus in Lahti consisting of about 50 researchers and developers focusing, inter alia, on practice-based innovation and its different aspects. LUT University Lahti campus consists of researchers belonging in LUT School of Engineering Science, LUT School of Energy Systems and LUT School of Business and Management. LUT University Lahti campus contributes actively to developing approaches, methodologies and evaluation tools for introducing, applying and disseminating innovation practices and results of R&D activities in public, private and third sector organizations in Finland and internationally.
LUT’s role in ViSuAL focuses on innovation and quality issues as well as Human Impact Assessment (HuIA). LUT has strong competence in participatory innovation and co-creation with users (both in terms of approaches, methods and policies) as well as impact assessment of technology. Human Impact Assessment is a universal, user-oriented (ex-ante) approach that clarifies the impacts of different options, solutions and activities, providing information for decision-making and helping deal with conflicts.
